We are excited to begin welcoming kids today to another Children’s Rally. We try to hold the gatherings in different areas to reach as many kids as possible during school holidays. This rally is reaching very remote children, only miles from the Tanzania border in Magadi. Children are traveling miles, often through rough terrain, including difficult-to-pass mountains, to sing songs, play games and learn about the Bible in a child-centric approach.
Reverend Nelly first dreamed up the children’s rallies ten years ago, with the first rally in 2014. Even though children were often overlooked in the region’s culture, more than 400 children attended and another 200 were unable to cross a flooded river. The rallies have grown in ways we could not have imagined. Our last rally drew an unprecedented 1,600 children. Although we had to scramble a little to support so many, we were blessed to welcome these new children. We also love seeing our Wadada Students act as leaders during the rallies, telling stories, leading games, cooking and cleaning, and helping the visiting children.
These leaders will once again step up to help the children in the Magadi region through Friday. We cannot wait to see how each child will learn, grow and thrive! Keep checking back as we add updates from the rally.
