Students at the WADADA Children’s Center attend church at the Church at Olopolis, which has seen better days. Four years ago, we started collecting donations for a replacement church. The construction project is considered a “pay as we go” process with work completed a little at a time, as contributions earmarked for the project are donated.
Made from stone and cement, the new church is being built around the current building. Once the roof on the new church is complete, the old church will be dismantled. As you can see in the photos below, construction techniques are a little different than in the United States. Cement is mixed by hand and bucketed up to be poured in the forms.
What more, high school boys from the WADADA Children’s Center support the construction effort when home on breaks, another example of how the WADADA Project helps students learn new skills and hone leadership abilities. As project manager, Samson Oladaru (Rev. Nelly’s husband) oversees the daily work.
When complete, the building will also serve as a multi-purpose facility for the WADADA Children’s Center students.
Consider making a donation toward the construction fund today to help our students get one step closer to their new church!
