While we were celebrating Thanksgiving in the United States, more than 850 children were giving thanks for an incredible Children’s Rally. Reverend Nelly, along with other amazing leaders, welcomed children from afar for three days of joy, hope and learning.
Local leadership from the WADADA Children’s House supported the event, which was scheduled when students are on break from school. These young men and women once again stepped up to prepare meals, guide games, lead worship, teach classes and support the visiting children, who ranged in age from toddlers to teenagers.
Through child-centric teachings, with a strong focus on songs, stories and games, the goal of the Children’s Rallies is to reach as many children as possible in remote regions, bringing joy, hope and the love of Christ. On Friday, more than 350 children gave their lives to Jesus.
The Rally, which is always in a new location, was held in Whitestone, far in the interior of Kenya in Maasai Oloiborsoi. However, heavy rain nearly postponed the event due to unpassable roads. “We prayed that God may hold the rain,” says Reverend Nelly. While leadership and the Wadada Students, along with 850 children made it to the Rally, getting home posed equal challenges. Some children had to wait for 30 minutes for the river to subside in order to cross safely.
Despite the challenges, the Children’s Rally was a major success. Check out a few highlights from the Children’s Rally below, including videos of the children singing, learning and playing games.
