Children have arrived for another extraordinary Children’s Rally. Reverend Nelly, other leaders and our incredible Wadada Students welcomed hundreds of children who are eager to learn Christian values from the Bible through stories, songs and games.

So far, there are approximately 700 young people in attendance, but more are arriving to the Rally, which is being held in Torosei in Kenya, near the Tanzanian border. Each Rally is held in a new location to reach as many communities as possible. As Rev. Nelly put it, “Our mission is to reach the unreached.”

Rev. Nelly gives very serious consideration through prayer, and connections with the remote churches. In 2018, we refocused on smaller rallies held in regions, which are larger areas made up of many smaller communities. The hope was to be more accessible, allowing more children to participate. In addition to proximity, there must be a local school building to house the children and supply protection.

Reverend Nelly first dreamed up the children’s rallies ten years ago, with the first rally in 2014. Even though children were often overlooked in the region’s culture, more than 400 children attended, while another 200 were unable to cross a flooded river. The rallies have grown in ways we could not have imagined.

This Rally’s location posed its own unique transportation challenges. One van transporting Children’s Ministry Leader Mary and some of our Wadada Students got stuck in the thick dusty dirt. Mary and the kids worked to free the tires and make a path for the bus to move, even pushing from behind. In the end, they made it!
